Nifty Nob was honored to have our Pink Heart Ceramic Cabinet Knobs used on this amazing girls vanity for ABC’s Extreme Makeover-Home Edition 10/16/2011 Korpai Family. Don’t miss this heartwarming episode! We think this little girl is just so cute and it could not make us happier for her to be using our cabinet knobs as she primps in front of her fairy tale mirror!
AMAZING GIRLS VANITY

September 4th, 2011 by susanzOn a recent visit to Italy I was struck by the counter balance of old versus new. In Milan the stunning newly restored Duomo at Piazza del Duomo was balanced by the newly opened Museo del Novecento, or Museum of the 20th Century. A fabulous museum it set the tone for the rest of our trip. Seemingly everywhere I looked I saw sleek balanced by soft, dark balanced by light and old balanced by new. Our last night in Milan we stayed near the airport in a lovely small hotel called First Hotel where I saw this incredible chandilier.

First Hotel lobby chandilier
It was so beaufiful made from Murano glass in the old world style, except the artist paired this traditional glass with open sleek design and structural elements of Polished Chrome. The piece was large but felt light and airy. It was more than just a light fixture it was a sculpture in a very modern lobby in modern colors but it was not trite because those modern elements were so perfectly balanced by traditional glass. I think there is something we can take from this chandilier in our design tastes. Contemporary design is wonderful but overdone it can become industrial and cold…not the way I would want someone to feel in my home. Perhaps we need to rethink and reinterpret some of the older style design elemnts and realize they do not need to be discarded…they can be used and balanced quite beautifully wth the new.
Ceramic is back!
January 11th, 2011 by susanzAs you would expect I have always thought a home is different than a hotel or a restaurant. Consequently I am thrilled to see a warmness in both color, texture and design coming back to our industry. Nifty Nob has never strayed away from personalizing ones space which you can do so well with color and texture. Today I came across this great compiliation of tile…by the by our basic shapes and glass collections can coordinate with any of these. I hope you enjoy these tile photos as much as I did!

Share your creative ideas with our readers too! Thanks Joe.
A tribute to my Dad!
June 20th, 2010 by susanzNifty Nob would not be here if it were not for my Dad. No he did not finance this venture it is the voice in my head that I am talking about. My dear Dad passed from Alzheimers on Christmas Eve 2007. Even when he was the most remote he gave me great practial advice. When I was a young woman working for Macy’s New York in my early 20’s I was convinced I had hit a glass ceiling. I remember complaining to him on the phone 3000 miles away. He said quite firmly “Don’t you let the fact that you are a woman hold you back from anything!” And I have never forgotten it. When times are hardest I remember him believing in me…always being surprised when I did something he did not understand…let’s just say he was not an artist! He was a liberated man long before it was fashionable, he taught me to read the stock lisings in the Wall Street Journal when I was 14…For the younger set that is how we tracked our investments before the likes of online trading companies and the internet. There was just no grey area with my Dad, you were good or bad, successful or not and excuses were not tolerated. They were good lessons to learn. It makes the tough decisions in business easier when you were given such clear guidelines as a child paired with the absolute belief that anything is possible! I miss him!
